Psalm 27:5-6 ESV
5 "For he will hide me in his shelter
in the day of trouble;
he will conceal me under the cover of his tent;
he will lift me high upon a rock.6 And now my head shall be lifted up
above my enemies all around me,
and I will offer in his tent
sacrifices with shouts of joy;
I will sing and make melody to the LORD."
It is that time again to come together for a blessed night of singing together and exalting the Lord with our praise!
What better time than this too, especially as we reflect on the heart of the Psalm above. As David considered all the ways God had blessed Him and would continue to protect him amidst times of trouble and in facing affliction, he was driven to sing joyously to his Divine Protector. We too, as we look back at all that God has brought us through over the course of the last few months, have so much to be thankful for and to praise God for. Like David, we find an impenetrable shelter beneath the Most High, and our heads are again and again lifted up from despair and fear to gaze upon Christ. Our experiences as a church family this year, and all throughout our life, all testify to this truth that "no power of hell, no scheme of man can ever pluck me from His hand" (Steward Townsend "In Christ Alone").
I hope you will plan to join us this Sunday evening at 5:00 to sing hymns joyously together in response to God's unceasing faithfulness to us. If you would like to request that we sing a particular hymn, or even share a hymn with the congregation, please contact me this week so that we can plan to incorporate that in our time together.
I am really looking forward to what God has in store for us, and the blessing of fellowship with you in singing together this weekend.
In Christ,
Josh
