March 23
Church Family,
I want to open the week by sharing the latest updates on church function and how you can stay involved.
Staying connected at OBC!
SUNDAYS
9:00- Morning worship and message on Facebook (@oakwoodkc)
First, thank you to all who joined us on facebook for the live-stream of the message yesterday morning. We are aware of some issues experienced with the broadcast which we hope to resolve moving forward. We had several significant challenges in preparation for last Sunday, including having to rebuild our streaming platform, which we overcame through the ingenuity and hard work of both Pastor Josh and Jake Taylor. Big thanks to them both! Also, for those who tuned out early due to the technical issues, please check out the posted video which was free of many such errors.
Sunday worship will continue to be broadcast via Facebook at 9:00.
10:30- Bible Studies
Beginning this Sunday, we will have live, interactive Bible studies available online (through Zoom). You can also participate (audio-only) from your phone. Mike McComas, Joyce Lierman, and Chuck Thayer will be teaching their classes (open to all) and more classes may be added. For those unfamiliar with using Zoom, Rick Baumgarten will lead an instructional meeting this Wednesday @ 6:00.
Email russ@obckc.com to learn how to join in.
5:00 - Prayer meetings
Each Sunday evening you're invited to gather for a brief devotional followed by a time of prayer through Zoom.
Meeting information will be emailed out this week.
WEDNESDAYS
Ashley and Josh are offering age-based online videos and activities, details for which will be shared directly with those involved. Contact either of them for questions or more information. Adult activities may be added.

March 18
Church Family,
In this time of unprecedented national health crisis and in efforts to honor the authorities over us and love our neighbors around us, the Elders have developed the following Adjusted Activity Plan to guide church function in the coming weeks.
The following activities are indefinitely suspended, effective March 18:
• Sunday morning and evening gatherings
• Tuesday Morning Bible Study
• Wednesday night meals and activities
• BALL Club Luncheons
• Lifegroups
In spite of these dramatic changes to our regular gathering rhythm, we are working on a number of ways for you to remain involved and connected throughout this time.
• Worship gatherings will be streamed through our Facebook page (@oakwoodkc) at our normal 9:00 start time, beginning this Sunday, March 22. Elders will be at the church during the service to receive and engage any visitors in need of prayer.
• Online Sunday Bible study options for adults and teens as well as Children’s Church videos and lessons are in development.
• Josh is planning to roll out a number of online studies and activities for teens in the coming weeks.
• We will continue to send out the weekly “Next Week @ OBC” emails and will be mailing a truncated bulletin to all members without email as well as our home-bound. Please notify the office if you would like to be added to this mailing list as well.
The Elders and Staff will continue to monitor new developments and declarations, modify these actions accordingly, and update the congregation as needed.
We encourage you to continue to maintain regular contact with one another through your Care Teams. Contact your Care Team Leader / Bible Study teachers for ways to get involved. The Elders will be partnering with our Deacons and Care Team leaders to ensure that everyone is looked after.
Please share any prayer or support needs with the church office (office@obckc.com).
"Shopping angels” have volunteered to help our high-risk members keep their supply needs met without leaving their home. Both those willing to volunteer as well as those with requests are asked to contact the office.
The church office will remain open through the week and staff will be available during our normal office hours as well as by phone or email in case of emergency.
We also encourage you to continue to financially support the church by either dropping off your offering to the office, mailing it directly, or asking your bank to set up an automatic draft each month. Contact the office for more information on the bank draft option.
Finally, in these trying days, be sure to continue to feed yourself and encourage others with the truth of God’s Word and prayerful meditations on His endless love, perfect wisdom, and unrivaled sovereignty. God is using this crisis to strengthen families, bolster church fellowship, and create opportunity for His people to bless the surrounding communities. Praise God for His unceasing work!
On behalf of your Elders and Staff,
Russ
